Nonsmoker

"Donna" came to me wanting to become a nonsmoker. After a few questions it was apparent that her pack a day habit was a result of self medicating underlying fears, anxieties and stresses. She began to realize that her habit was was trying to reduce those unpleasant sensations and that smoking was the symptom not a cause. Hypnosis is a far better tool than smoking for reducing anxieties, fears and stresses. In her last contact she related she was a nonsmoker.

Phobias/Needles

Mike, a young client, was so afraid of needles he was unable to undergo having his blood drawn for some necessary blood tests. I was able to go to the lab with him and he successfully had the blood drawn while in hypnosis.

Emotional eating

The following is an email I received from one of my clients:

I am doing well! I have had two or three episodes of compulsive thinking about food. I put myself in a trance and it STOPPED - both times. I haven't binged one time. One time, I ate something that was not a good choice. The best news - I lost 2 pounds this week. That is 4 pounds from our last session. Also I had a snag when I got depressed over a lack of money. It took half a day and two trances but I got over that too! This is the longest the suggestions have lasted. Those neuropaths are getting puny!

Worry and Anxiety

Over the years I have had clients who were bothered by needless worry. Some worries or concerns we have are certainly rational. "Mary" was overly concerned around the holidays with people coming over. She never liked being the center of attention. At an early age she experienced a traumatizing event (a near drowning) which put her at the center of attention in a negative way and probably was the source many of her worries. In (and out of) hypnosis she was able to reframe that event, put the experience in proper perspective, and understand at an unconscious level that being the center of attention can be useful. She is a lot more comfortable with dinner parties and the holidays.

Sleep Disorders

There are many reasons people have difficulties in sleeping. "Kathy" came to me because of her inability to sleep well. She was taking some sleep medication but did not like the side effects. After questioning it became apparent that the stress of being the owner of a business was causing her to try to work through problems during her attempts to sleep. I helped her separate those aspects of her life that would be important a year later from those that needed immediate attention. She learned to put herself in a trance, while at work, for a few minutes that lowered her stress levels. She was amazed at how quickly she began sleeping much better.
